On Saturday August 11, 2012 the Stone County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint in the area of Dewey Short Center and State Highway 265. The checkpoint had been operational between the hours of 9:00 pm and 2:00 am. 

The result of the checkpoint consisted of 1 arrest for DWI, 2 arrests stemming from Warrants, and 1 drug related arrest.

A total of 6 Uniform Traffic Tickets were issued; 2 for No Proof of Insurance, 1 for a Child Restraint Violation, 1 for Driving While Suspended, 1 for Driving While Revoked and 1 for Under 18 riding in bed of truck. There were also 4 drivers tested for DWI indicators using SFST/PBT testing methods.
