Stone County Sheriff's Office

On August 7th, 2012, Stone County 911 received a call of a suspicious vehicle near the docks in Cape Fair.  Sgt Justin Scroggins responded and made contact with the individual, Christopher Dean, a 34 yr old male from Reeds Spring.  After speaking to Mr. Dean, Sgt Scroggins contacted Detectives in reference to the statements that were made to him from Mr. Dean were not clear. Sgt Scroggins had received a phone call in reference to a burglary that occurred that morning and some of the items stolen matched items in the rear of the truck.  Sgt Scroggins then took Mr. Dean in custody and had the vehicle towed to the Sheriff’s Office Sally port area.  Detective Matt Maggard then applied for and received a search warrant for the items that were identified as stolen and to look for other items.  After the search warrant was completed, an affidavit was sent to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Christopher Dean was charged one count of Receiving Stolen Property and was given a bond of $15,000.00 cash or surety.  Christopher Dean then bonded out of jail on August 9th.

Detective Maggard continued to work on the case, and with the photos of the property out of the back of the truck, he compared the items to other stolen property reports in the county. Deputy Jennifer Hart, while working evidence, matched items taken in thefts to items in evidence from the truck.  She contacted Detective Maggard and worked with him to contact the victims. Detective Maggard matched the property to six other cases that had been reported.  Detective Maggard contacted the victims and they came in and positively identified the property.

On August 21st, 2012, Chris Dean was again arrested on the new cases that were identified.  An affidavit was presented to the Prosecuting Attorney and Mr. Dean was charged with three counts of 2nd Degree Burglary and was placed on a $45,000.00 bond.  Mr. Dean is currently incarcerated in the Stone County Jail.
