Press Release on Pursuit and Assault on an Officer

On July 22nd, 2013, at approximately 10:53 pm, Stone County Central Dispatch gave out a call of an intoxicated male that hit parked cars in a parking lot near Flat Creek Restaurant.  The subject left the scene going North on Hwy 173.  Central Dispatch gave aGalenaaddress for the truck that was involved.

 

A Stone County Deputy set up on Hwy 248 coming intoGalena. At approximately 11:02 pm, the vehicle was located and stopped at4th Streetand hwy 248.  The subject took off and a short pursuit ensued through 7 blocks ofGalenaresidential area.  The truck crashed at the intersection of10th StreetandPine StreetinGalena.  As Deputies approached the vehicle, the subject came out with a hay hook in hand.  The male subject dropped the hay hook and resisted deputies.  As Deputies were cuffing him, the male bit a Deputy in the calf of his leg.  The 46 yr old male fromGalenawas transported to theStoneCountyjail on a 24 hour hold for Felony Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer.

 

The Deputy went to the hospital and was treated for the bite wound. 


Charges are expected to be filed on this case later on today.
