09/21/2015

Press Release

On September 19th, 2015, at approximately 11:30 PM, Stone County Deputies were involved in a short pursuit on Mo 13 south of Mo State Highway DD. The vehicle traveled south and turned west onto Stone Ridge Center Road just north of Kimberling City. The vehicle proceeded down Stone Ridge Center Road and came to a stop a residence at the end of the road. When Deputies approached the vehicle, the vehicle started backward and struck one of the Deputies in the leg and knocked the Deputy to the ground. The Deputy recovered from being struck and discharged approximately three rounds into the vehicle. The second Deputy also discharged one round into the vehicle at the same time. The vehicle then proceeded about 100 yds and drove into a ditch just out of sight of the Deputies. As the Deputies approached the vehicle, they observed the occupants fleeing the area. One of the occupants was taken into custody at that time and the other two fled into the woods.

Mo State Highway Patrol Troop D was contacted and the scene was turned over to them for a complete investigation. They assisted in the search for the remaining two occupants who were later taken into custody approximately a mile north of the scene at approximately 6 AM on Sunday Morning.

The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Springfield, Mo, earlier on the 19th.  Branson Police advised the vehicle was used in a robbery earlier in the afternoon in their city.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17 yr old male from Ozark, was treated and released from a local hospital for injuries to his right hand. The other two individuals, a 16 yr old male and a 15 yr old male, was taken into custody and turned over to Juvenile Authorities.

Currently the driver is in custody at the Stone County Sheriffs Office awaiting formal charges from the State.

When charges have been filed, the name and photo of the individual will be released.
