Internet Chat Room Sting

Stone County Investigators traveled to Boone County Missouri on Friday, April 16th, 2010 with an arrest and search warrant for a Christopher Calahan, male white age 48, and a resident of Columbia Missouri.

With the assistance of Boone County Sheriff's Deputies and detectives from the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, Mr. Calahan was arrested in reference to the ongoing internet chat room operation being conducted by a Stone County Detective posing as an underage female. A search of Calahan's residence was also conducted where computers were seized.

This was an ongoing case which originated in July of 2009. Mr. Calahan allegedly sent pornographic images to the detective via a webcam.

Calahan has been charged with one count of:

Sexual Misconduct or Attempted Involving a Child under 15- Class D Felony

Calahan was transported to the Boone County Jail with a bond of $25,000 Cash or Surety. Calahan has since posted bond.

Stone County is currently a member of the Tri-Lakes Regional Internet Crimes Task Force. Funding for this project is through a 2010 Internet Cyber Crime Grant (ICCG), which has provides training, and equipment to assist in cyber crimes as well as monies for salaries of some employees.
