STONE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff Richard Hill is proud to announce that a new tool for the public and the Sheriff’sOffice is now available on the Stone County Sheriff’s Office website: www.StoneCountyMoSheriff.com. This tool is an interactive crime map which allows site visitors to view locations where crimes occurred within Stone County.

This crime map display is provided as a public resource for general information and is not a complete history of crimes committed or reported in Stone County.

“The crime map is a new and innovative tool for the Stone County Sheriff’s Office to use to provide information to the public. With this new crime map, website visitors can go online and view locations where crimes have occurred in the County. Our goal is to increase public awareness to enhance public safety,” states Stone County Sheriff Richard Hill.

The website pinpoints locations on the map where crimes have occurred. Sixteen specific types of crime may be identified with icon pinpoints: Arson; Assault; Burglary; Copper/Scrap Metal Theft; Disturbing the Peace; Drug; Fraud; Homicide; Multiple Crimes; Robbery; Sex Crime; Theft; Vandalism; Vehicle Break-in; Vehicle Theft; and Weapon crimes. Site visitors can choose to display crime locations based on the type of crime and/or by date. A link to the new crime map is located on the Sheriff’s Office website home page in the upper right hand corner.

As new incidents are reported, information will be added to the crime map by the Stone County Sheriff’s Office staff. Identifying Meth lab locations is a major piece of information the Sheriff’s Office wants to provide to the public.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Office is one of the first Sheriff’s Offices in Missouri to implement this crime-mapping technology. Brooks-Jeffrey Marketing, Inc. (MostWantedWebsites.com) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, developed the Stone County Sheriff’s Office website and crime-mapping feature. The crime map is the latest addition to the website that currently features a sex offender location map, inmate roster, most wanted listings, and email alert notifications for the public.
