On January 31, 2013, at approximately 5:43 p.m. Stone County Deputies were dispatched to1722 Trace Hollow Road,Lampe,Missouri, for a burglary in progress.  As Deputies were responding they were advised that a neighbor had two subjects at gunpoint.

When Deputies arrived on scene, they detained two male subjects.  The neighbor had noticed suspicious activity at the residence and confronted the male subjects.  He held them at gunpoint until Deputies arrived on scene.

Further investigation on scene by the deputies found two deceased bodies in the residence.  Apparent signs of foul play prompted further investigation.  Detectives from the Stone County Sheriff’s Office and the Members of the Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control responded to the scene.

Our investigation revealed the double homicide of a husband and wife.  Paul Brooks, 70 years old and Margaret Brooks, 69 years old of1722 Trace Hollow Road.

The two male suspects, a 16 year old juvenile and a 15 year old juvenile were taken into custody and later turned over to the juvenile authorities.  This is an ongoing investigation and an Autopsy will be conducted tomorrow on the victims.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims.
